Federal Programs

The National Information Center for Children with Disabilities, NICHCY, is a national clearinghouse that provides free information on specific disabilities and related issues for individuals from birth to age 22. It is federally funded and authorized by Section 633 of Part D of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. NICHCY provides highly-trained Information Specialists who respond to individual questions about specific disability services, early intervention, No Child Left Behind, IDEA and mails out information packages and referral services. LOCAL SERVICES

Sacramento County Board of Supervisors:
This is the primary governing body, comprised of five elected supervisors, each representing a district within the county.

Sacramento County Mental Health Board: Focuses on championing the rights of individuals with mental illnesses in the county.

Sacramento County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls: Advises the Board of Supervisors on issues related to women and girls.

Sacramento County Youth Commission: Provides a voice for young people in county matters.

Various other advisory boards and committees: Sacramento County has a wide array of these, addressing diverse topics such as agriculture, animal care, parks and recreation, and more. You can find a list of these, along with application details, on the County website.

Sacramento Employment and Training Agency: A local workforce development board serving Sacramento County.
